The College, which is in the heart of the city was started during the academic year 1963-64 under the aegis of the BMS Educational Trust. The Trust is named after late Dharmaprakasha Rajakaryaprasaktha B.M. Sreenivasaiah, whose philanthropy resulted in the establishment of the First Engineering College under the Private Management of the State of Karnataka.
The College has a proud record of 80% of students passing in LL.B., final degree examination of May 2009 with few distinction. The LL.M. classes, which were conducted successfully for nearly a decade, was taken over by the Bangalore University as a policy matter during the year 1978.
Vishal P. Bhat, Ashok Bannidini, Nikil. D. Kamath and Tauseef Akthar of X Semester LL.B. have won the Seth Shankarlal Lahoti Law College's National Moot Court Competition, organised by Seth Shankarlal Lahoti Law College, Gulbarga for the year 2008.
The College has an extensive fully computerised Library of standard Law Books and Journals, which include the Common Wealth Law Reports, US Reports, All England Reports, Halsbury’s Laws of England (including the latest edition).....
